Online Exchange with Overseas Universities FY2023-2024 ~Short Movie Production~

Since FY2021, Tokushima Prefecture has been conducting an online exchange program where presentations and discussions on consumer education and other issues are held between schools in Tokushima and in ASEAN countries in order to further develop ”international cooperation in consumer policy,” focusing on the post-COVID era.

For FY2023, the venue participants and overseas universities connected online, and students took the lead in presenting and exchanging opinions under the theme of ”Consumer Behavior in the Digital Society: Our Recommendations.”

Furthermore, the participating universities in this project appeared at the ”Tokushima International Consumer’s Forum 2023” held on October 31, 2023, and presented their initiatives for this fiscal year.

The 1st Meeting (May 23, 2023)

Teachers from the participating schools, the coordinator, and the advisor, gathered to exchange opinions about this year’s exchange theme, etc.

As a result of the discussion, it was decided that this year’s theme would be ”Consumer Behavior in the Digital Society: Our Recommendations,” and that each school would create a short movie ”raising issues” faced by consumers in the digital society and ”making recommendations to others to become better consumers.”

The 2nd Meeting (July 7, 2023)

After each school gave a presentation on the issues faced by consumers in the digital society, the participants discussed on how each school can improve the content of their proposals for the short movie.

The content varied from school to school, with one focused on the relationship between smartphone usage time, academic achievement, and physical fitness; another focused on the convenience of consumerism and the sustainability of local communities; and a third focused on ”laws” to control dark patterns, false reviews, and misuse of information.

The participants discussed the contents, concepts, and issues they ran into in planning how to create a short movie, which they improved on based on the discussions at the first meeting and the ”Tokushima International Consumer’s Forum 2023.”

The coordinator said, ”As a future challenge, I would like you to use the idea of disseminating and promoting the short movies by posting and sharing them on SNS as much as possible,” and the advisor commented, ”Each school brought out recommendations full of ideas. The young generation will create the society of the future. We hope that you can create positive and proactive works and actively disseminate them to realize everyone’s digital wellbeing.”
