Concerning a paid website

トラブル

Q:When I clicked a banner ad on a website, a check that said, “Pay the website’s usage fee within three days.” suddenly appeared. Do I have to pay even though I did not intend to use any additional website?

A:Among the issues inquired about at consumer affairs centers, issues about digital contents are most frequently queried when comparing by type of product or service, most of which are concerning usage fees of paid websites.

請求

There are cases where a usage fee is charged after using a website that claimed to be free of charge or a usage fee is requested even when you did not use any website; a usage fee might be requested by a website that you have never used or by a company or individual that says, “Collection of usage fee is entrusted to us.” The usage fee might be requested even by email or phone repeatedly if you do not pay the fee. In addition, there are cases where a very large amount of money is requested as arrears or payment is requested using the name of a major company that exists.

Be careful not to open any emails from unknown sources, not to answer any calls from unknown persons, and not to share your personal information such as name and address. Changing your phone number and email address is also an effective countermeasure. Do not respond to any unknown requests for payment.
