Otsuka Museum of Art

Otsuka Museum of Art

There are more than 1,000 replicas of priceless masterpieces, from ancient murals to modern paintings, and collections from more than 190 art museums in 25 countries worldwide. These masterpieces are reproduced to their original size on porcelain boards using special techniques.

You will have to walk almost four kilometers to see all the artworks. Dynamic Historical Reconstruction is the reproduction of ancient remains or churches exactly as they were. Historical Development is the exhibition where masterpieces of Da Vinci, Monet, Gogh, Picasso, etc. are displayed in their historical order so that you will be able to see the transition. Thematic Section is an exhibition displaying the masterpieces of the artists in various time periods. You can experience museums from all over the world, being in Japan. Especially, the Sistine Hall, the reproduction of the “Sistene Chapel ceiling and murals” painted by Michelangelo, is a must-see. There are also unique exhibits: “before and after of the restoration of the Last Supper”; “Water Lilies” of Monet, which is exhibited outdoors as Monet wished; and the reproduction of “Sunflowers” of Van Gogh, which was destroyed during the war in Japan.

Art volunteers provide regular guided tours including tips and recommendations for free.
