Ochiai Village was designated as Important Preservation District of Historic Buildings in 2005. The village is formed on a steep slope and the difference between the highest and lowest point is approximately 390 meters.
The reasons why the village was formed is not clear, however, there is the legend of the defeated Taira Clan and pioneer lore, etc.
Some nostalgic sights such as the houses built between the middle of the Edo Period and early Showa Period (late 17th century–early 20th century), stone walls made by building up stones one by one, and fields can be seen.
Ochiai Village Observation Spot is located at the opposite side.
