Vine Bridge in the Iya Valley

The Vine Bridge located in the mysterious place “Iya” is where tragic tale of the Taira Clan originates. The bridge is made of Actinidia argute (hardy kiwi) vine (weight of approximately 5 tonnes), and the length, width and height above the water are 45 meters, 2 meters and 14 meters, respectively. It used to be the only traffic facility in the Miyama Valley area a long time ago. It is rebuilt every three years.
