Be sure to buy bicycle helmets that have a “conformity mark label!”

With the enforcement of the revised Road Traffic Act, the wearing of bicycle helmets has become mandatory (required to make an effort to do so) as of April 1, 2023.

改正道路交通法の施行により、2023年4月1日から、自転車のヘルメット着用が努力義務化されました。

It has been demonstrated that wearing a helmet reduces the risk of death in the event of a traffic accident. However, there are some products on the market that do not have a [conformity mark label (e.g., SG mark label)] indicating compliance with safety-related standards and regulations.

ヘルメットを着用すると、交通事故の際の死亡リスクを低減することが明らかになっています。ただ、市場には、安全性に係る規格等への【適合マーク表示（SGマーク等）】がない製品が販売されている場合があります。

When the National Consumer Affairs Center tested products without these labels, some were found to have performance problems such as poor shock absorption.

国民生活センターがこれらの表示がない製品をテストすると、衝撃吸収性等の性能が低いものが見られました。

When purchasing a helmet, choose one with a safety-confirmed [conformity mark labeling (e.g., SG mark)].

ヘルメット購入の際は、安全が確認された【適合マーク表示（SGマーク等）】があるものを選びましょう。
