Caution! Do not respond to false security warnings!

We have been receiving numerous inquiries from consumers who report that while they were using the Internet, a warning message suddenly appeared on their computer screen which read: “your computer has been infected by a virus,” or “we found xx (number) system problems,” so they became anxious and sign a contract to buy security software or security support services using their credit card according to the instructions on the screen.

「インターネット使用中に，突然，『パソコンがウイルスに感染している』『〇〇〇個のシステムの問題が見つかりました』等の警告画面が表示され，不安になって画面の指示に従い，セキュリテイソフトやサポートをクレジットカード払いで契約してしまった。」という相談が多く寄せられています。

Typically these warning messages have an alarming sound or voice, start a count-down timer and stay on the screen. They would cause consumers to become anxious and make contact using the contact details on the screen. This ends up in forcing them to sign a contract to buy or install unnecessary paid security software.

　警告画面では，「警告音や音声が流れる」「カウントダウンが始まる」「警告画面が消えない」等の手口で消費者を不安にさせて，画面に表示されている連絡先に連絡すると，必要のない有料のセキュリテイソフトを契約させられたり，ソフトをインストールするよう指示されたりします。

Do not take in, contact, nor sign a contract in a hurry when a warning message appears on your screen. Please refer to the IPA (Information-technology Promotion
Agency, Japan) website where you can find out about fraud tactics and how to protect yourself from them.

　警告画面が表示されても鵜呑みにせず，慌てて連絡や契約をしないようにしましょう。IPA(独立行政法人情報処理推進機構)のホームページで手口と対策を紹介していますので，参考にしてください。
