Beware of fake delivery notices through SMS!

We were consulted by an individual who told us, “I received a message through SMS (Short Message Service) on my smartphone that said, ‘We tried to deliver a package to you, but we took it back because you were not at home.’ I was waiting for an item I purchased online to arrive, so I panicked and tapped the URL in the SMS, which directed me to install an application, and I followed the instructions. After that, I started receiving frequent phone calls from strangers saying that they received fake delivery notices through SMS.”

「スマートフォンに『お客様にお荷物をお届けしましたが、不在のため持ち帰りました』というSMS（ショートメッセージサービス）が届いた。インターネット通販で購入した商品が届くのを待っていたので、慌てて、SMSに記載されていたURLをタップすると、アプリをインストールするように誘導され、その指示に従った。その後、知らない人から頻繁に、不在通知のSMSが届いたという電話がかかってくるようになった」という相談がありました。

This is a phishing e-mail disguised as a delivery notice. After installing the unauthorized application, the same fake delivery notice sent to the victim’s smartphone is automatically sent to an unspecified number of people, phone bill payments exploited, and personal information stolen.

これは、荷物の不在通知を装ったフィッシングメールです。不正なアプリをインストールすると、自分のスマートフォンに届いたものと同じ不在通知のSMSを自動的に不特定多数の人に送りつけたり、キャリア決済が悪用されたり、個人情報が盗まれたりする被害が発生しています。

If you receive a delivery notice through SMS or e-mail, never tap the URL indicated. If you become suspicious, consult with the Consumer Affairs Center before doing anything.

SMSやメールで不在通知が届いても、記載されているURLは絶対にタップしないようにしましょう。不審に思ったら、事前に消費生活センターに相談してください。
