Can I use the cooling off system for mail and online shopping?

Regarding online shopping, TV shopping and catalog shopping, since consumers can see the advertisements, order the goods of their own accord, are not forced to act suddenly, and can think carefully before buying them, the cooling off system cannot be used. Regarding returning purchased goods, terms the dealer has set in the contract regarding returning purchased goods must be followed.

インターネット通販やテレビショッピング、カタログ通販等の通信販売は、広告を見た消費者が自らの意思で申し込んでいるため、不意打ち性がなく、良く考えてから購入できるため、クーリング・オフはできません。返品については、業者が決めた返品特約に従うことになります。

When purchasing goods by mail, online, etc., check ‘Returnable/Not-returnable’ or ‘Conditions for the Return/Exchange’ beforehand. If you are satisfied, place your order. If there are no conditions stated in the contract regarding the return of purchased items, you may return the purchase within 8 days from receiving it (day item received included), however, you must bare shipping charges.
