Warning Regarding Unjustified Charges from Adult Websites!

We have received a report saying, “I was trying to watch adult videos for free on my smartphone, but when I clicked the age confirmation button, a screen suddenly appeared saying ‘Registration Complete.’ It also said, ‘If there has been a mistake, please contact us here,’ and in a panic, I phoned the website provider. The provider said, ‘The usual registration charge is 300,000 yen, but we will accept 150,000 yen if you pay today,’ so I quickly went to a convenience store and bought e-money to pay the charge.”

「スマートフォンで無料のアダルト動画を見ようと年齢確認のボタンをタップしたら、いきなり『登録完了』という画面が出た。『誤作動の場合こちらに連絡せよ』と書いてあったので、慌てて業者に電話をかけた。業者から『本来は30万円の登録料だが、今日中であれば15万円でよい』と言われ、すぐにコンビニで電子マネーを買って支払った」という相談がありました。

There has been a growing number of cases of adult websites falsely registering people and then demanding payment of unjustified charges with the aim of tricking people out of money. It is not possible to conclude an agreement by just pressing an age confirmation button, so there is no obligation to pay the charge.

このように有料サイトに登録したと誤認させ、金銭をだまし取ることを目的とする不当請求の相談が増えてきています。そもそも、年齢確認のボタンをタップしただけでは契約が成立しているとはいえず、代金を支払う必要はありません。
