Credit card cash exchange scams

We had a case where a consumer was solicitated into a credit card cash exchange scam after being told that they “would definitely profit if they invested money.” Although the consumer refused and said that they had no money, the scammer told them they could get cash by exchanging items that they had purchased with their credit card. The consumer then followed the scammer’s instructions and made purchases with their credit card.

　「『出資をすれば必ず儲かる』と勧誘されたので『お金がない』と断ったが，『クレジットカードで商品を購入して換金すれば現金が手に入る』と言われて，指示通りにカード決済をした」という相談がありました。

Credit card cash exchange scams are a scam in which the consumer purchases items within the credit card’s limit and the agent then purchases those items. The consumer will then receive cash in return. However, this is a breach of the credit card’s contract and can lead to the consumer being charged with fraud.

　クレジットカードのショッピング枠で商品を購入し，それを業者が買い取ることで消費者に現金が渡るという「クレジットカードの現金化」は，クレジットカード契約に違反する行為であり，消費者も詐欺罪に問われる可能性があります。

In addition, even in the consumer does receive some cash, eventually they will have to repay large amounts of credit card fees which can become a huge financial burden for many consumers.

　また，一時的に現金を手に入れることができても，結局は高額なクレジットカードの支払に追われるため，利用者の多くが支払困難な状況に陥っています。

Do not get involved in credit card cash exchange scams as there is a high risk that you will get caught up in unforeseen trouble. 

　「クレジットカードの現金化」は絶対に行わないでください。思わぬトラブルに巻き込まれる可能性があります。
